CCTV Systems are installed by County Councils. They work in conjunction with
Safety Partnerships and the business
community.
The objectives of the CCTV system are:
- To improve community safety
- To help deter crime and detect crime
- To help reduce the fear of crime
- To reduce the threat of criminal actvities
- To encourage businesses to migrate to CCTV monitored zones
- To assist the Local Authorities in their enforcement and regulatory functions within the city centre
- To monitor and manage traffic and transportation, including all use of the highway, and provide information to the media and public
- To assist in supporting civil proceedings
- To assist with injury or insurance claims
